CONCEPT
Modern city life does not deliver completely sustainable and healthy conditions anymore. One of the factors, that can affect life quality is constant and too loud noise. So-called - noise pollution has a real impact on physical and mental health. It is related to an increase in high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes. Noise also evokes emotional responses, such as stress, irritation, nuisance, and dissatisfaction.
We decided to create an installation, which will let the city residents see the volume of the sound. For this purpose, we designed light columns, which can be located in urban space. The columns have sound sensors inside and LED light stripes on the walls. LED stripes are distributed in rings from up to down. Each ring is assigned to a certain level of sound. Depends on how loud sound the sensor will receive, it transforms it immediately into a light display.
The installation will react to the noise level in the city. The louder noise will appear, the more rings will light up. Different parts of the city can be compared and the residents can become more aware of their urban environment.
