This is the Southern Chinese Lion at Chinese New Year. Base on my study, the coloration that is originally used by the lions are base on the character of the novel, "Romance of the three Kingdom". A story of war and brotherhood. Liu Bei is a leader and the oldest of the three brothers. As a leader, he symbolizes hope.
The lion's original colorization is a rainbow. Me, as the researcher, felt that he embodied the hope of the people, and perfectly fit the Chinese Lantern Festival where people let go of hesitations and wishes for a new beginning.
Chinese New Year is one of the most celebrated holiday in the entire world. And red is the most popular color in those days as it is considered the lucky color. Therefore, Liu bei's 2nd brother
The Green Lion is for those who are young sifu. It is energetic and competitive. Hence, I used it as the color for the Chinese Boat Racing Festival where competition is what people live for.
