PARALYMPIC RUNNING BLADE - Blake Leeper

Working in collaboration with Blake Leeper, we developed the most advanced running blade ever created. Its goal—to overcome some of the many obstacles faced by Paralympic athletes on the track.

While I worked at Altair, and in conjunction with Eastman Chemical and Art Center, we developed a set of running blades that were tuned to match the aerodynamics and movement of the human leg. One of the major restrictions for Blake was the wind force on his running blades. Like putting your hand outside a car window while moving, you can feel the force of the wind. A revolutionary patented shroud changed the aerodynamics and was one of the many advancements for Blake’s new running blades.
