MOME is the acronym of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, which is the biggest design university in Hungary. The campus was old, though after renovations is now one of the most modern in europe. The model was built with Basiliscus 3D (a 3D printing company) for the opening ceremony in 2019.
The original building was designed by 3H architectural company.
First we worked on the 3D model because we wanted to 3D print the buildings with an CJP printer. Meanwhile, we CNC milled the base out of hard polystyrene. For the landscape, I used artificial sand, polystyrol, modelling woods, modelling grass, acrylic paint and different types of glues.
Because of the precise milling, all the buildings are removable. I started the construction by dusting the sand in the proper areas. After the sand, I laid down the grass, and inserted the 3D printed sidewalks. Next, I began to plant the gardens and the various types of trees. Then, I built and painted the fences and the benches out of polystyrol.
Finally, I made the lamp poles and cleaned all the dust and grass particles out of the model.
