Turkey has a relatively young population, the average age being only 32.4 in 2019. The elders comprise 9.1% of the total population, which makes around 7.5 million men and women over the age of 65. 

In my quest of capturing the people and life of Istanbul, I often come across these old men and women, always ready for a small chat and a photograph afterwards. They are from a wide range of backgrounds, belonging to different nationalities, speaking different languages and all part of the mosaic of this extraordinary city we call Istanbul. 

What I feel documenting the older generation is not nostalgic. Conversely, it's a step towards the future, a step which I believe will become more concrete as I advance in the project and complete it.
