Awareness Campaign: Plastic Pollution+ Beauty Industry

Abstract: This is a study on the cosmetic industry's reliance on plastic packaging and their heavy contributions to the global plastic pollution we are facing today. Unfortunately, the plastic issues are not just due to excess, but also difficult-to-recycle packaging, and single-use products. This study will examine various research methods in order to find a solution that will best bring awareness to this alarming global issue. The proposed solution will offer education, connection, and community for not just consumers but also industry leaders. Meaningful collaboration is the only way we can make positive and sustainable change.
The Problem: The reliance on plastics in the cosmetics industry is creating an enormous plastic footprint and urgently needs to be addressed.

Purpose: There is a need to bring awareness to the cosmetic industry's investigating environmental impacts due to excessive plastic packaging. The purpose of this study is to create an awareness campaign that advocates for a common vision that will only succeed if consumers, beauty corporations, and legislation band together and take action.

Proposed Solution: A public outreach event to gather consumers and beauty industry leaders together to connect, share, and discuss the need for sustainably packaged cosmetics. The proposed event will focus on educating consumers, introducing future-thinking members, and facilitating conversations for change. Public outreach events allow for a more intimate and overall engaging experience as opposed to a passive viewing of a more traditional form of advertising. In addition, events help to establish emotional connections and act as the purest form of authentic engagement.
