NightWalk - 3D Stereoscopic Image/Wiggle Gif Exercise

I really thought I would be making portraits with my folio for this exercise but decided as I would still be in lockdown, to go down more of a conceptual art route. I made a mini series of spooky night time wiggle gifs using my DSLR and a flash, to experiment with flash at night and the wiggle technique. I took 4 photos per location/subject, but 2 of the images I only used 3 photos as they were what matched up best when making the animation on the timeline in editing,

I found it very difficult to do, as my camera struggled to focus and the flash wouldn't go off a lot of the time. I also ended up going in a diagonal path up instead of across an x axis a lot of the time and had trouble stabilising my shots.

I went on a small walk just before curfew to take the shots and took in all the eeriness I felt which translated into the images. I think the hardest part was trying too create the perfect seamless 'wiggle' effect and mine still feel a bit jumpy, which I hope to work on next assignment. I also used a 'dust and scratches' effect on the last image of the street sign as I was inspired on this walk by "Stranger Things" which I have been watching, and the idea that we in lockdown at night are in this otherworld or 'upside down'.

I think next time I will try portraits and focusing on a single, close subject in natural light as maybe they might have better results, though I am really happy I was able to achieve this and learn something new :)
