This hand dyed double weave fabric is inspired by the movement and colors of a winter lake. I hand dyed one warp first with procion dyes. The other warp is made up of iridescent white thread. By using the double weave pick-up technique, I was able to draw my woven design as I went along. The weaving process can be very technical and organized but this organic technique allowed me to accomplish a fluid outcome that successfully represents my subject matter. The fabric is also reversible. One side has a white background with color lines, while the other side has a color background and white lines.
