The Fortress project aims to develop flexible, wearable and low cost radiation detectors.
Fortress's innovations work in favor of people who are victims of skin necrosis during radiotherapy treatments. Approximately 70,000 cases occur worldwide each year.
This is how the treatment should go: the radiotherapy drug begins its journey in the patient's vein, continues until it encounters the tumor ... and opens fire!
The tumor is crippled, the good have won. Or maybe not. Something is wrong: Fortress reveals an extravasation, the radiotherapy drug has escaped from the patient's vein who now risks skin necrosis.
The Fortress detector is activated and sends a signal to the doctor, who intervenes immediately, putting the patient in safety.
