I am fascinated by caterpillars. Not only I find them beautiful but I admire their ability to form those perfect rows, where they follow each other, looking for the perfect spot to turn into chrysalises, and their voracious appetite. There is an amazing number of caterpillars, with different shapes, colours and fuzz on their back. In the beginning of Summer I read about this adorable caterpillar that forms a sort of hat by keeping old "heads" one atop the other. This was the starting point for this sculpture, that perpetual caterpillar. Near completion I decided to make it look like a cat, thus "Cat-Caterpillar" and a very meta- reference to Alice in Wonderland.
