Visual Habesha Branding
The Mistr concept originally started out as an Instagram account called Visual Habesha that would repost various creative works made by Ethiopian and Eritrean creatives.
As time passed, Mistr eventually became its own brand and Visual Habesha
continued as an account administered by the Mistr team, since the roots of both
projects stayed the same.
Within the culture of both countries, the arts are not held to the same regard as other careers, despite being the pillars of national identity and traditions. To help change this narrative, the goal of Visual Habesha was to uplift and celebrate the artistic pursuits of young Habeshas already active on Instagram.
Once these missed opportunities are addressed, the path to redesigning becomes clearer and steps were taken to ensure the goal of the brand was outlined creatively in the letterforms.
