The two IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training tests are largely similar, but not completely identical. They use the same rating scale and two of the four parts of the test are identical. IELTS Life Skills fundamentally differs from the other two versions in that it only assesses listening comprehension and language skills, and this is done only at a language level, beginner or intermediate. The information on this website refers to IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training only. IELTS is completed by hand, not on the computer. The student writes the answers on a form. Therefore, it is not necessary to be able to write to complete the IELTS.
The two oral parts of IELTS (Listening Comprehension and Language Competence) are identical in the IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training versions. The two written parts (reading comprehension and writing skills) differ.
Evaluation of the IELTS test.
Anyone wishing to take IELTS, be it academic or general, must complete all four parts of the exam. The result is 13 days innerjalb. Reading and listening comprehension, as well as writing skills, are assessed by appointment, while the language proficiency test can also be taken up to 7 days before or after this appointment. Many candidates spend several months preparing for the exam and taking preparatory exams before achieving the grade they need.
Costs of the IELTS exam.
The current cost of the IELTS test is 223 euros. However, this will change from April 2018 and the participation fee will be 226 euros. Depending on your wishes, you can take the IELTS test in Germany, currently only in 17 cities, or abroad, through a language trip.
Who performs this test?
IELTS is a product of the Cambridge English Language Assessment and is jointly administered by this organization, the British Council and IDP IELTS Australia. Cambridge English Language Assessment has also developed the much older series of Cambridge English exams, which includes the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) and the First Certificate in English (FCE).
