I used to photoshop to designed the layout of the humming bird patterns. Then I printed the design with a piece of transparent acetate paper. UV light allowed me to transfer the patterns onto the sheet glass. After sandblasting, the hummingbirds appear as shadows under light. My intention was to make an animation of one humming bird flying when the fan turns, but the speed of the rotation wasn't quite right.
