About the project
Broken Thoughts was the second full-fledged game project I took part during my bachelor studies. It is is a serious game aimed at relatives of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. It was developed over 3 months with a team of 5 people.
About the game
It is a point & click game where you control Olaf, a sweet old man struggling to deal with his condition. Each level of the game contain puzzles designed to reflect a symptom of the disease starting with the most common ones like forgetfulness and advancing to more severe symptoms like losing track of time and dementia. Storytelling and visual narrative were core to the game creating a powerful and emotional experience.
My involvement
This time around we decided to try something new by using 3D graphics but at the same time keeping it inside our own limits with simpler style of gameplay. This left more room to focus on narrative design, being responsible for all cutscenes and interactions in the game. As in the previous projects I was responsible for programing, visual effects and gameplay design while also acting as a producer and central hub for the team.
