Crisis, Catharsis & Contemplation was a landmark exhibition of contemporary art installed in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Melbourne. Seventeen artists, showcasing twenty-two challenging, thoughtful and evocative works in an extraordinary location. It was described as “...an exhibition of contemporary art in a sacred space” by artist and curator, David Rastas. Through the photography, typography and colour choice, the intention was to capture a mood which reflected the tranquil, amber-light filled sacred space of the cathedral. The catalogue was published by John Garrat Publishing, Melbourne 2006.
