THE ANTARCTIC CALAMITY

THE ANTARCTIC CALAMITY
“Antarctica. You know, that giant continent at the bottom of the earth that’s ruled by penguins and seals.” Well that’s not the case anymore.
There is a relatively little diversity in Antarctic compared to much of the rest of the world. Some of the rear species like Humpback whale, Emperior penguin are considered endangered and have decreasing population trend.
Human activity has caused introduced species to gain a foothold in the area, threatening the native wildlife. A history of overfishing and hunting has left many species with greatly reduced numbers. Pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change pose great risks to the environment.
The conclusion here is, “More than just footprints have been left and more than just photographs have been taken from this land which looks like a fairytale”
