Hugging Monster Coat

It is an interactive performance, where the performer would come down the stage to hug the audience. 
I was a monster who needed hugs to survive, but humans always ran away from me because we were scared of each other. So I hid under a big coat that was covered with hundreds of hand-made -pom-pom balls. This time, when they saw me, they smiled and wanted a hug from me.


The Book of The Hug Monster

It’s a wearable book that tells the story of the hug monster, who wants to be hugged but  is afraid that if other people hug him, they will see his hidden heart, which is black, full of tears and broken. The audiences help me finish the story by willing to hug this monster.

I reproduced the street in New York City after the Thanksgiving Day parade. In the afternoon of the parade day, the empty street was full of trash, and someone needs to take care of it eventually. In this animation, the yellow colors painted on balloons, donuts, and Starbucks cups represent the happiness of the masses. I want to prompt people to think about who is taking responsibility for our happiness.
The VR Town

Cinque Terre is a small town in Italy which is famous for its colorful houses. However,  I heard that the residents were not happy with the tourism industry. Tourists saw beautiful colors from outside, but the residents could. not enjoy it inside the houses.
So I built a colorful town on VR glasses and put a black and white video inside it. The video can be found https://vimeo.com/469922678.
Viewers can both interact with the work by wearing the work or look at someone wearing it.

It is a study of the relationship between human aesthetics and self-awareness. I photographed and printed my face, put them into pieces, and stuck them back to my face. Then. I used selfie apps to make my "face" "prettier", then went through the same process again during the performance. 

Lamp Monster

It is a short pixel game that introduces a type of monsters who live inside artificial light. Inside the room, the player can chase this monster from a lamp to another. The narrator fills the story of this monster while the player turns off all the light. "When all the light turns off, the monster will get mad..."

This work represents part of my earlier fantasy of western candy houses. When my family moved to the U.S in the year 2015, I felt I finally own a candy house. When I'm able to open it up, I had the feeling of owning this object. So I built an openable candy house, and Inside it, I photographed the furniture inside my home, printed it, and rebuilt the indoor composition.

Character design: a "Sequential Boss" for a game. She was a little girl with a disability. and her parents were mad scientists who transformed yokai(Japanese monsters) 's bodies to help her walk. Later, their experiment went crazy and began to transform their daughter's body. Eventually, the little girl was out of control and ate her parents.

Character design: Action Team Go! A normal school girl lost her way in an amusement park, and suddenly all the tourists disappeared. When she was panicking, she met four other characters, who are designed based on different rides of the amusement park.

It is a series of experimental mark-making drawings. Each of the drawings used only one tool as the brush, they were a fan, a dishwashing sponge, and a book. Then I add digital characters into the drawing.

It is a Jenga game with colors. In the year 2018,  Weibo, the most popular social media in China, deleted the tags "LGTB". The government wants people to be unified, in which all the outside surface of the Jenga is red. However, it would not be the unity color inside. During the first break in college, I made a fan animation for my favorite anime characters and uploaded it to Niconico (https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm20010091). Many website artists would use music published by others on this website to make animation. I also use this format, I chose a piece of narrative music (published by Kururingo) and created an original storyboard with two existing characters. Although this is fan art, it was a great challenge for me to express the emotions of characters with stage settings and objects.  Meanwhile, I received a lot of feedback, I'm glad that other fans can feel empathy through my works.
