Welcome to my paper garden!

Illustrations are made for my article about balcony gardeninig
in children magazine "Copernicus snail"
It was an issue about book artists and their workspaces.

I suggested children growing a small garden and painting it using
different art materials: watercolor for light nasturtium,
gouache for delicate dense succulents, pastel for textured marigolds
and color pencil for holly cornflower.
All illustrations were made of cut paper.
The first step included making digital sketches and discussing
their compositions and coloring schemes with the editor.
After the sketches had been approved I started to color paper
for collages with apropriate materials
and cut-cut-cut each detail.
But wait!
Above all we had to plant and grow our garden.
The next illustrations demonstates all tools necessary for gardening.
While we were waiting for the first saplings,
I suggested drawing funny characters to sign plants and decorate pots.
My illustration task was to combine different kinds of materials and collage
appeared to be a perfect solution.
Thank you for your attention!
