Every year around 80,000 animals are brought to the Dutch animal shelters. These animals are found on the streets or have been removed from their previous homes due to poor circumstances. When these animals do end up in the shelter some of them are transferred to a new owner after a few days, while others remain in the shelter for months or even years...

Even when there is someone that wants to adopt it can be difficult connect an animal to the right owner. The characteristics and needs of an animal must correspond as much as possible with what the future owner is able to give. For example, the duration of being alone must be taken into account and whether the animal can get along with children.

While adopting a pet it’s important that future pet owners are aware of the fact that purchasing a pet is not an impulse purchase. Each animal is different, and has its own unique character, but they all deserve a daily dose of love and attention.
