It is safe to say that many people around the world have struggled a lot during the unusual year of 2020, not only financially, but also psychologically. It is during times like this that it is important to have some kind of hope. 

Oxen Power is an illustration that holds the dearest wish for a new beginning for people around the world. The inspiration for this piece comes from Banksy’s ‘Girl with Ballon’, where the balloon, to my understanding, stands for new hopes and desires. 

Similarly, with balloons being let go in in this piece, oxen (the zodiac signs of 2021 in Chinese cultures) are called upon, full of strength and power, thus are able to chase away the 'evil' spirit of mouse - the year of 2020. With this piece, I hope that the pandemic of coronaviruses could be under control soon and everyone could enjoy a happy and fulfilled year of 2021.
