You can't write listicles for a living and NOT be self-aware about the clickbait practice. Which is why once I managed to convince my editor to greenlight this very obvious, self-aware humour article, I had a blast coming up with the lines.
Why it worked: I created this at a time when most of our humour listicles were of the 'one-liner + reaction GIF' format. So this one broke the norm. Also, people loved the irony of an alleged clickbait site posting something that held a mirror to that practice.
