A NEW WATER EXPERIENCE

"Makara One" is a newly interpreted electric boat and represents a visionary, sustainable and unique approach to water sports. As an innovative form of future mobility, it can be enjoyed both in nature and in urban environments. Turning the vision of a start-up into reality has been an absolute pleasure for the studiokurbos designstudio.

WATER WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

With hands-on mindset and technical approaches, the team working on this ambitious project was able to adapt the exterior design based on the boat's hull. The interior design and details such as add-on parts, storage compartments and protective covers ensure functional handling while acting as intentional design elements.

TECHNICAL VISUALISATION

Being electrically powered, "Makara One" provides a very quiet and natural experience on the water's surface. The overall concept showcases a new form of mobility, including detailed functionality as well as the handling out of the water. The boat offers space for one driver and thus retains its compactness and agility.

DESIGN DETAILING

Exterior-, interior design and details such as attachments, storage compartments and protective coverings create a sleek and harmonious appearance. Clever details such as the integrated recess in the protective cover ensure easy handling. Functional straps across the storage compartments not only ensure a secure, uncomplicated fastening system, but also add aesthetic design highlights. The seat carriage paired with a perfected steering system form a seamless unit and the centerpiece of the electric boat. The seat fulfils the requirement of being quickly installed and removed without the use of any tools. This makes Makara easy to carry and transport on one's car roof.

FUNCTIONALITY, ERGONOMICS AND AESTHETICS

Design and construction go hand in hand in the overall development, always with consideration of materials and various component manufacturing methods. The entire construction is based on a carefully thought-out lightweight principle. Besides precisely calculated recesses in the seat mounting, it includes an ensemble of slenderised and stabilising material wall thicknesses. Furthermore, the CAD development involved planning, such as integrated drainage options for the special application area in water.

VISIBLE LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION

For the interior trim, glass fibre mats are coated with a black resin. The fibres remain visible, which gives the surfaces a unique structure. Frosted acrylic glass integrated into the armrest not only enhances the feeling of space, but also reveals the steering controls underneath. Translucency and highligting the technical parts thus provides a feeling of both ease of control and safety. In the seat construction, all functional elements remain uncovered as well, which again emphasizes the functionality and, naturally, ensures weight savings.

AUTHENTIC & FUNCTIONAL OUTDOOR MATERIALS

The choice of high-quality materials underlines the exclusivity and positioning of the project in the premium segment of this particular boat industry. Waterproof and genuine materials are used throughout the entire boat, underlining the sporty and nature-oriented character traits. The edge protection on the bow made of elastic 3D printed material frames the overall silhouette, while the Makara lettering in the integrated handle adds an exclusive and high-quality impression. A speckled finish on the interior panel of the armrest and translucent elements communicate a modern lifestyle character. The exposed steering controls are further accentuated by a synthetic sleeve with a twill weave in a contrasting colour. Depending on the model, the seat pads are made of foam rubber or an outdoor canvas material inspired by outdoor sports.

MATCHING COLOUR CONCEPTS

The neutral colour concept in simple silver and black convinces with pure elegance and sportiness. The overall impression recalls marine life, thus creating an emotional bridge to nature and yet remaining sporty and minimalistic. Further designs feature accent colours in "Aquablue", "Juicy Orange" and "Limegreen". These accent colours highlight selected design elements, such as the steering system or seat upholstery.
