I started working on another square Kufic calligraphy project, returning to the beautiful and inspiring 99 Names of Allah. The grid is designed to incorporate textual units that are six strokes wide and six strokes tall, with a the ratio for stroke to gap being 6:1. I'll show you the steps, including some individual textual units, or names, a full column of ten names, the final block of all 99 names, a prototype workup done in Illustrator, complete with a tile pattern I designed (with inspiration from @Miss_ChatZ and her tutorial in tutsplus), and then the final composite in Photoshop.
