Between the Lines

Between the Lines is an exploration of the lines that divide us, with a focus on the small, unexpected and peculiar moments of everyday migration.
Throughout the publication the inner spine acts as a visual representation of a border, either used to divide, disrupt, be crossed or create tension.
Briefed by the ISTD, with the task of creating a typographic work that explores the theme of migration, I made it my aim to reclaim the term, through critical knowledge, intrigue and celebration of the experiences of those less told. For this reason the content of the publication is a collation of interviews, podcast transcripts, newspaper articles and poetry.

Through my research I became interested in the broader definitions of the term migration, outside the usual stereotype representedby the mainstream media. I instead became intrigued by the idea of borders, and how when stripped back to its core, migration is the act of crossing these imaginary lines we have created.
