31 Philippine Endemic Flora is an ongoing project of sketching Philippine endemic plants, particularly flowering plants, into small botanical illustrations. This started during Inktober 2020 and was supposedly a daily-sketch series in order to share a portfolio of at least 31 out of 10,000+ plant species that are native to the Philippines (my home country), which may bring hope, inspiration and beauty to others. As an aspiring botanical artist/illustrator, I explored stippling and sketching styles required in making scientific botanical illustrations. Gaining discipline and excellence were also aimed by doing daily art, but it didn't turn out as planned, so maybe doing daily art isn't as effective for me as how it can be for other artists.

But that's how we learn, and everyday is a learning process.

The important thing is that we strive to do good and create some of that art!

terminology / notes:
*endemic = synonymous to native; species is originated and can only be found in one place/country.
*indigenous = can be found in two or more places/countries.
*introduced = not native; foreign species brought by man to a foreign land, which can be invasive and destructive to native species and the larger ecosystem.
