Carolina Hurricanes Redesign

The Carolina Hurricanes are an NHL team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The team moved there in 1999 after spending two seasons in Greensboro, North Carolina, after moving from Hartford, Connecticut, where they played as the Whalers. The team had a great inaugural look with warning flag striping but has strayed away from that design as the years passed.
My new logo completely replaces the old one, which was all-too-often compared to a toilet flushing a puck. Basing my design off the Hurricanes' alternate logo, which features warning flags flying off a hockey stick, I transformed those flags into the states of North and South Carolina. The triangle references the Research Triangle, and the three points line up exactly with Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh, the three cities in the Triangle.
The road jersey forgoes white in favor of gray, something that would be unique to the NHL. Based on the original '90s look, the warning flag pattern adorns the hem and sleeves. The italicized font returns as well, while the two states of North and South Carolina take place on the shoulder.
The home features a bright "Warning Red" base and is a color swap of the road. This shade of red is brighter than the previous shade, referencing the bright red warning flags have to be in order to be visible.
The third jersey is all-black, removing gray from the palette to create a "stealth" jersey. Unlike San Jose and Dallas, however, this jersey is bold and also visible, featuring bright red numbers and bright red striping.
The full set. Flag striping on the socks, black gear, North and South Carolina on the helmets.
