The first is a series of eight full-scale ship installations built around living trees as their sails. This was eleven tons of wood set on 24 cement footers. It was eighty one feet long and twenty four feet wide. The walls averaged about 10 to 12 feet high. Inside were a series of seats, quotes from world literature and a deck with a viewing platform. The light pole was held in place by five tons of stacked slate.
About fifty yards off the bow, a second part of the installation was located in a thicket near the center of the field. The Grotto was a wood enclosure, like an oversized bird's nest upside down, set around several tons of rock, whicj formed a circle for people to sit in.
