This picture was painted for my partner. Her request was "Pink Echinacea floating over a blue haze". (Being a gardener by 'blue' she meant 'purple'.) It is a celebration of the magnificent herbaceous border she has created in our front garden, which has attracted significant appreciation from our local walkers.

Inspirational photographs of my partner's border.
Colour mixing and textural experimentation. The composition was lacking a focus in the bottom left. I took an allium seed head and it finished off the awkward space as well as bringing a nice contrasting sharp spikey element to the picture. Then, I had to workout how to paint it. The rest of the picture was watercolour washes over acrylic gesso but I did resort to acrylic paint to create part of the allium head.
