2020 TEAM PROJECT
Overview
The [Retra Hanbok] project aimed to protect Korean traditional culture and promote Korean things worldwide.
Like the Newtro culture in which unfamiliarity became novel, I wanted to reinterpret the old things from
the present and continue by changing the culture.
Project Naming
RETRA is a compound of re and traditional, containing the identity of the project that brought traditional to the present.
Logo
Logo connects various types to express past and present encounters and exchanges.
Color System
In order to capture the main message of the project "standing in the center between past and present", among Korea's traditional five colors, the yellow was chosen as main color to mean "the center".
Fashion
Hanbok is a beautiful Korean traditional clothing, which used to be a casual dress,
but today it is a special day's wear.
RETRA wants to dress Hanbok as a casual dress. Jeans, hanbok jeogori, and sneakers, top dress inspired by Hanbok's skirt.
It is a miss match culturally, but it is expressed that it can be matched without any difference when implemented.

Photograph
Hanbok is Korea's own beautiful clothing, and in the past it was used to casual style in the past,
but nowadays it is worn only on special days.
Taking account for that, with RETRA I wanted to make casual hanboks, like Jeans, hanbok jeogori, sneakers, along with top-dress inspired by hanbok skirts.
In cultural sense it might not fit well with each other, but emphasizing the tradition meaning in the project through fashion,
I would like to say that anything can be matched without any difference when actually implemented.
