Classroom Presentation - Glitch Art
Goal of the assignment is to do research on any one of the graphic design style , make a presentation of the same and present it in the class
The topic I have selected is Glitch art because glitch art is very unique and interesting style to make a research on as Glitch is originally referred to an error occurred in the digital system may be an image or software. Glitch art is a practice of using digital or analog errors for aesthetic purposes.
Glitch art is very interesting and helps us learn perfection is not everything imperfection can become perfect sometimes. These imperfect accidents opened medium for expression and creativity.
A team called JODI made experiment of glitch. They purposely induced glitch in their website in order to display underlaying error and codes. These explorations later influenced visual distortion practices like data bending and data moshing.
These are several techniques under glitch art which can be achieved by either digitally or by analog means. The methods used apart from photoshop are circuit bending, data bending and data moshing. Data moshing can be achieved by either by apps or web based tools.
Nam June Paik used magnetic field to interfere with television electronic signals, distorting the image on the screen. He used magnets for the purpose and Reed Ghazala modified cheap sounding toys and audio devices by short circuiting them and produced some interesting and fun audios.
These is a short presentation on glitch art. Glitch art has a way more better future in upcoming days and will keep attracting artists
This project helped us understand more about different graphic design styles and how to efficiently incorporate them in our upcoming projects
