AUGUST 2020 | BELARUS, GOMEL
After the presidential elections in August 2020, protest movements arose in many Belarusian cities. The reasons for the protests were disagreement with the results of elections, their obvious falsification, thousands of detentions and a disparate scale of violence.
On the first weekend, fear, anger and hatred gave way to a sense of unity. All over the country there were peaceful protests, which gathered tens and hundreds of thousands participants. One of these protests I accidentally saw in Gomel.
I don't exclude that after publication of these photos I may be detained or charged, imposed an administrative arrest or a fine. But I know for sure that I didn't commit illegal actions - it's very difficult to do in a country where there are no laws. But I'm proud of Belarus and belarusians.
I'm inspired by our strength and how we changed in August 2020.
