"What's Left" is a body of works, including one already shown, that I have doodled in a lecture class (on Propaganda and Thought Control) throughout the semester. They all have similar themes and were birthed with the same media. The Russe and the Fox, for example, was originally a costume piece based on the Ballet Russe... but that alone isn't quite the correct answer. It IS truth, but it isn't the whole truth. While I was thinking of the Ballet Russe, my teacher and peers with dissecting almost every word of Kafka's "Before The Law." How could that parable not sink into my art? While it may not be noticeable to viewers, I suppose this series is just to illustrate the complexities of doodles..
The title of the body of work is a reference to the myth of Pandora and the box/jar she opened; despite letting countless evils into the world, there remained hope. All three images were conceived in different sessions, different moods, and different trains of thought, but no matter how different things are in the world, for me, everything is united by hope.
