Fishing lures are artificial bait used to catch fish, and they come in several types.

Plug lures are made of plastic and come with treble hooks attached. They are designed to look like small fish or other kinds of prey. When fishing with plug lures, a reel-and-stop technique allows the lures to emulate the twitching of living creatures as they float suspended on the water’s surface.

When fishing for bottom feeders a jig lure is usually used. These weighted lures are allowed to sink to the bottom upon casting. Jigging involves lifting and lowering the fishing rod to make the lure moves up and down in order to attract a strike.

A spinnerbait uses vibration and color to attract fish as it moves horizontally just under the water’s surface. These lures are ideal for catching perch, pike, and bass. The vibration and color both come from metal blades that are part of the bait’s construction.
