Light and Vision
This project started with interrogations about synesthesia — seeing music and hearing colors — and generative music.
I wanted to find my own way to convert images into sound. Technically, it's simple: first, images are converted into a grid of 64 colored squares. Each of these colors are then converted into MIDI using a conversion table. The values of red, green and blue are turned into a note, its octave and its velocity. The dynamic range of the original image will define the variations of the final sound.
