Portals, Video installation

Portals, video installation, 2021
Wood, Neon, CRT TVs, Arduino, LEDs
For my senior thesis I had the opportunity to do a group show called Portals in Tempe, AZ at Gallery 100. For this exhibition I did a video installation where I was able to showcase my stop motion animations, puppet fabrication, visual effects, neon sculpture, infinity mirrors programed with Arduino and two experimental video art.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Making the suspension base!
In order for my Infinity mirrors to be hanging in a circle, I built an 8x8 ft ring that was later hooked to the ceiling, on top of the ring is where I added all the wiring and power supplies for the 8 mirrors
Infinity mirrors programmed with Arduino
This was very challenging to do, as an interdisciplinary artist I have always found huge passion and interest in combining technology and fine art. With this interest in exploring those two mediums together I started learning Arduino. I was able to create a code where four infinity mirrors were synchronized to each other, I added some sound sensors on the top of the suspension base so the LED lights will dance to the sound of the gallery
It's neon time!
Currently I am a neon apprentice at Reeves Studios in Phoenix, AZ. This apprenticeship has been the most fun, I started to learn glass bending earlier this year and I have been loving it a lot

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a creature of technology, and a multimedia artist. I always push my creative boundaries by experimenting and combining different mediums. Both art and technology define and continue to reshape the world we live in, re-imagining what we know and adapting us to the digital realm that we currently inhabit. My current projects involve combining light, color, video art and to bring life to interactive electronic objects. I have an obsessive fascination with colors and lights that inspire my work. The creation and combination of vivid colors that represent depictions, expressions, and constructions of imagined worlds that I escape to. I am currently working on interactive sculptures using Arduino and LED Lights.

These pieces help guide the spectator in a way that allows them to become part of the artwork. Technology provides me with an endless palette of new possibilities and enables me to dissolve traditional art mediums. People often say, "We are only limited by our imagination." I've found that with technology I can create things I could never have imagined. Using directed randomness, procedural rule based systems and light, I can create my own laws of nature and imagine the impossible.
