Complexity

My thinking behind this poster was the Gestalt Principle of Complexity. I played with different sizes of squares and layered them until I felt there was a hierarchy to the poster. The pink rectangles draw your eye in first and then force you to look around the page at the blue outlined rectangles.
Spontaneity and Randomness

The shapes in this poster are skewed about randomly; all different shapes and positions. The purple shapes have a thicker outline which draws your attention first and then the hierarchy moves to the few blue and orange outlined shapes. I wanted to represent the spontaneous nature by ensuring there were no patterns or rhythms.
Repetition and Consistency

I repeated the half-moon shape and pattern in this poster in order to create consistency throughout the entire picture. The dark magenta shapes catch your attention and then your eyes move to the overlapping light pink shapes, and finally to the background. My idea was to use repetition of the half-moons to create another hidden design of lines separating the page. In between the magenta and pink shapes, where they do not overlap, are the illusions of lines.
