Between boredom and freedom, which do you prefer?

What if a stare of a beautiful woman is not a signal of interest, but a secret message of cry for help? What if one phone call suddenly ends the life as we know it and marks the beginning of something horrible?

In a peaceful and harmless lifestyle, something inside us goes rotten. Many people probably want to feel danger. They just don’t say that out loud. But their wish does not come true, so they go on and live a boring life day after day. If life was a manga, you’d need to wait until you turn the last page in order to realize that the boring life actually was happiness itself. If you are a student, only after graduating do you realize those days spent doing nothing were actually something to be cherished dearly.

Like you find a demon in the darkness if you look hard enough, there should be something that appears out of terrifying boredom. There must be so many things that we are just not aware of in a peaceful life. Thinking something like that, I continue to cast a suspicious eye on the good old boring life of mine.

退屈と危険ならば、どちらが好ましいだろう？
見目麗しい女性から向けられた眼差しが、秋波ではなくSOSであったとしたら。ふいに来た着信がとんでもない事件の始まりを告げるものだとしたら。

平穏無事な生活のためにかえって腐っていくものがある。言わないだけで多くの人々もきっと適度な危険を欲している。しかし願いは叶わず明日もまた今日と同じ暇で退屈な日常を暮らすだろう。それが案外かけがえのない幸せであることに気がつくのは、漫画でいえばラストシーンを待たなければならない。学生でいえば卒業してからようやくそのありがた味を知る。

怖ろしい程の暗闇に目を凝らせば鬼が見えてくるように、怖ろしい程の退屈にも何か見えるものがあっていい。平穏な日々にもきっとまだ気づいていないだけのいろんなことがあるはずだ。そんな気分で今日も見飽きた日常に疑惑を撒き散らしている。
