Redux
In this Redux project, I sketched then created digitized icons. I took pictures of a strainer, citrus squeezer, and ice cream scooper. The process of switching the picture to a digitized image was challenging at first because it did not look like the original. After experimenting, with the brush and pen tool it finally looked how I wanted it. Then, when choosing the colors, I went for a summer theme that one can use on a vacation or a party. Choosing the colors was a little challenging. The first color palette was not working but experimenting with shades and tints made the color scheme better. The typeface, Futura, worked the best because it felt bubbly and fun which gives summer vibes.
The Process
I looked around my kitchen and took pictures of a strainer, citrus squeezer, and ice cream scooper. I took pictures of different angles of each kitchen tool.
After carefully choosing what images would be converted best as digitized icons. I sketched the kitchen tools. After sketching them, I used tracing paper over my sketches to do multiple exploratory drawings which consisted of silhouettes, shading, and using only squares. The two methods that worked best were the shading  and silhouettes because it allowed me to see the detailing on the kitchen tools.

I explored the reductive tools in Adobe Illustrator and the method that worked best to digitize my icons was the image trace tool. In the beginning, I had to be precise when making adjustments to make sure the icons looked smooth and clean.
For the color palette, I wanted to have summer colors and my inspiration was someone on vacation. The beach is blue, the sun is yellow, the trees are green, and the sunrise and sunset is a peach/red color. As I continued to experiment, I made changes to the dark green to make it lighter.
