Charon was a well-known entity in greek mythology, responsible for ferrying deceased souls across the river Styx and into the underworld. The deceased must pay the ferryman's fee of a single obol for them to be carried by Charon; otherwise they would have to wander the banks of the Styx for 100 years. Charon was not one to judge the souls he transported, as long as they could pay the fee he would ferry them into their eternal rest.
