'A TALE OF TWO AMERICAS'
This project consists of a flag that is intended to address the idea of institutional racism in America. It highlights the double standards that prevail in the police force’s actions and responses, that members of society in 2020/21 saw towards several different protests. Particularly, the work compares visuals of police retaliation against BLM protests juxtaposed with the Capitol Riot. The flag was printed using the printing press and separate animation of it was created for digital platforms.
The flag is accompanied by an editorial, which describes the events taking place on the images of each of the individual collages that make up the overall flag. The editorial’s layout and grids follow the structure of the American flag.
