JOAQUIN VERGARA
An exercise to identify and define my personal brand.

Why
I have very recently started to learn concepts of User Experience on the Google UX Design Professional Certificate. As part of my learning process, I have to identify and define my personal brand.

Inspiration
Considering that the certification I am taking was created by Google, my biggest inspiration has been the Google brand and their use of colors and shapes. I find that round shapes combined with straight lines provide some sort of balance in the design, and considering that my first name initial is J, it was the perfect occasion to leverage on that. Also, the choice of colors is all around the main pink (HEX #F49FC8), trying to bring some level of contrast with other darker and playful colors.

Brand Colors

Design Process
At first, I started sketching only how the main element in the logo was going to look, the J:
- Was it going to be a normal/straight-lined J, or a curved J?
- Was I only going to use the J, or was my last name's initial also going to be included (V)?
- Was I only going to use the letter, or was it going to be framed/contained within another element?

Once I decided that I was only going to be using the J as the main element, I started thinking about how I was going to frame it. Full and single-colored background, or continue to play with curves and different colors?

Solidifying my Brand
And that's when I started feeling more comfortable with my design. I felt that I was going down the right path, but I was still missing something. Establishing a brand only with a single letter can be difficult (or so I think), which is why I decided to add one more element to the design, my first and last name.
