Record Player of the Future

I created the image for the record player a few months ago, so the idea with this project was to make an object I created as a still and bring it to life as an animation. After I came up with the initial idea for a spinning record player, I decided to add to it. So I decided to make the record spin into an image, that I had also previously designed. And from thus sprung this short animation.
When I initially sketched the idea for this animation, I had a vague and rough idea of what I wanted to do, so my sketching process was a little shorter than normal, and I didn’t do as much problem-solving at this stage. But I did four basic storyboards showing the basic movement of the animation.
After I finished the sketches, I did my first draft with my initial ideas and minimal animation. Then I shared it with some people for feedback. Some of the feedback that was given was to modify the camera movements, so what I did was changed the camera movement from kind of wandering to just straight on zoom, and it made it way less distracting.
So that brings us to the final animation. Despite not knowing After Effects at all before diving into this project, I’m proud that I actually made something move. I wouldn’t say that it’s my best work, but for what it was I feel pretty good at how it turned out. With my objective being to make a still image come to life in an interesting way, I feel as though I met the objective well.
