Fantasy Photo Manipulation By: Gary Kremkow, 2021
This project was began by researching images on the internet that we thought would fit a theme upon which we decided. Along with these pictures we made a list of words and the feel we were going for with our final image.
After gathering the images, we then looked at them and had to sketch up two possible ideas for compilations of our images and choose which one we wanted to do, if they were both approved.
With the general idea of the project established, we then created a slapcomp of all our images together, roughly cut out and placed about where they would go in our image with little to no regard of coloration, lighting or shading.
Our slapcomp gave us a good guideline of where we wanted to start. From here, each layer of the image was then cut out and turned into it's own PSD since each layer was already a smart object. Before they were all just masked out roughly with one another.
Once everything was cut out, as shown in the above picture, different aspects were masked as well to make them fit into the scene, the tent sinking into the grass along with the fire, the traveler's foot, etc. The back mountains were also blended together from their separate images to bring in cohesion into the piece.

Elements were then color matched using a black and white colorscheme to get matching values, and dodges and burns were applied to add in the lighting effects. Along with this, shadows were added in to represent the effect of these light sources.
After this not much was left. Some layers and textures were added to push back the buildings and mountains in the distance, along with blurs added for the extreme foreground and background elements. On top of this a marrying layer of camera raw and noise were added to bring the whole image together more, resulting in the final image.
