Bodily Exploration of Dysphoria and Dysmorphia (2020)

Bodily Exploration of Dysphoria and Dysmorphia
The Puppet: A plywood to scale puppet of myself, sew together with tulle fabric. Created as a representation of lack of control over my own body, as a way to take back power over my body from people who have taken it away from me.
Silhouette: All throughout my life I have only really felt connected to my hands and my head. By making the hands and head out of clay and the rest of the body out of tulle, creates a form that cannot hold itself up. It will slump over and fall due to the lack of strength in the rest of the body.
Weight of Womanhood: As someone who is nonbinary and was born female, I have a lot of dysphoria around my chest and it feels like weight that is dragging me down. This piece is made from stacked plywood, stockings and rocks inside the chest. The piece literally broke under the weight of the rock chest which is just poetic in my opinion.
