SweeTarts: Be Both
We recently got an interesting request from a San Francisco agency called Duncan Channon. They wondered what we thought about the idea of creating objects out of Sweetarts candy and then making them explode. We told them they'd come to the right place, and started a creative collaboration that featured several wacky virtual brainstorms, 1500 pounds of candy almost not arriving in time, and a gaggle of uber-gifted designers on a 5-day sugar bender, building these fantastic objects piece by tiny piece. In the end we opted not to blow things up - that would've given us only one chance to film the moment - and instead built a different story around each object. The only rules were that it had to be unexpected, highly colourful, and fun, which are rules we have no trouble following. Huge thanks to the team at Duncan Channon for this double dare, our intrepid production team at l'Éloi, to set designer Camille Boyer, and art director Audrey St-Laurent with her team of elves, for making these candy-based sets and props so visually flawless.
