Interpretive Signs for the Energy Loop

Wayside Signs for the Huntington and Eccles Canyons National Scenic Byway (aka "The Energy Loop")

My firm Kimley-Horn was selected to plan and design 27 interpretive signs for wayside exhibits along a scenic byway that winds its way through the Wasatch Plateau in Central Utah.

Interpretive signage helps both visitors and residents feel more connected to an area’s rich history and beauty. As the only graphic designer on this project, the fun was all mine.

Some signs had narrative already developed, but others required research to help tell the story. I consulted with area experts such as geologists, power plant managers, Forest Service staff, and a railroad museum curator, to name a few! It was a highlight of my career to be a part of!
