Brief
Requiring an Illustration for their production of Tom Murphy’s ‘A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant’ as part of Tuam 400, Caveman Productions asked for a poster that featured a ‘shop bike’. They also required the design of tickets and a programme for each evening.

Time: 1 day

The typography of the sign, in typical vintage fashion, defined the type and
design of the other promotion collateral.
The illustration tries to reflect the claustrophobic themes of the play, the silhouette of the town behind is populated by the nosey, curious and accusing eyes as indistinguishable from the town’s visual furniture as lights in the evening. The train materialises over the crumbling wall as in a dream, a nod to dream-state scenes of the play.
Far ahead of its time, the play is about John Joe Moran, a young grocer's assistant experiencing nightmares about the expectations of him, tries to figure out how to do what's best for him and balance it with those who rely on him. Written during the early 1960s, the play is still considered poignant and relevant today.

Congratulations to Caveman Productions on an excellent performance.
