Linier's Development and social integration center
Old and abandoned shunting and maintenance yards are a common sight in Buenos Aires after trains lost their importance as the principal cargo transport medium. But as bad as they are for the city, they carry a lot of significance and memories to the people and offer grand opportunities to the development of public and private projects.

In the context of a masterplan to renew Liniers unused shunting shard and its multiple maintenance sheds a project is proposed to renew and expand one of the sheds to accommodate a “Development and social integration center” destined to create and consolidate community links by educational, cultural and sport programs.

There are two parts to this idea. The first consists of fixing and reconditioning of the shed to hold two covered handball fields inside, give access to a sunken soccer field outside, a multipurpose room, a cafeteria and administrative offices. The second part embraces an annex to the shed, adding two new brick buildings for a library and an auditorium, merging together by a wooden hall.
