Kohler Rivlet (Wudu All in one Station) (2021)
This Kohler Rivlet is a very meaningful project that embraces the cultural nuances of the bathroom rituals across different communities and creates a touchpoint that lessens the pain points of ablution (Wudu steps)!
The first of its kind on the market, Rivlet is a dual-use bathroom washbasin and cabinet with an integrated foot washer designed for normal washing up and the Islamic self-cleansing ritual. As this process is usually done using a wall tap, it typically results in a wet floor and unhygienic bathroom conditions.
Rivlet’s tall faucet helps to eliminate spillage. The pull-down foot washer releases a stream of water as the user rests his or her foot onto the footplate. Crafted with textures that reflect purity and cleanliness — which are important elements of ablution — the footplate mimics washing one’s foot by the clean river or ocean. It tucks away neatly into the cabinet, making clever use of limited space, so do the mini-deck and cabinet drawers. The handrails that frame the sides are implemented for support during the washing process.
Rivlet is an all-encompassing design that has gone through extensive research, user testing and design iterations to provide convenience, comfort, and hygiene to both normal washing and ritual cleansing.
