COMPOSING CHOREOGRAPHIC COMPOST FOR
DIGITAL RESEARCH IN THE HUMANITIES AND ARTS 2021-BERLIN
Composing Choreographic Compost was selected for the 2021 edition of Digital Research in the Humanities and Arts (a British organization that unites science and art), as a performance presented in the program "Dancing Beyond the Human". In this choreographic work, which was presented in a digital environment (part live, and part was this video that I publish here today), I investigated the choreography that exists in the composting process of Lucas Lacaz Ruiz: his spatial and gestural trajectories, the relationships between the human body and sentient and insentient beings.
The central theme of the conference was the Anthropocene, a concept that has been widely debated in the arts and academia and that encompasses the drastic problems we face in the world with climate change, the resulting increase in temperature, and, in our case, what is done with the waste we produce. In this sense, composting is the function of this choreography, and it showcases Lucas's unique trajectory of having started alone, with the "DO IT YOURSELF" spirit, composting organic waste from a street market in São José dos Campos. Lucas is the kind of person the planet needs starting now. In the video, his story is partially told, and I am finalizing a longer version of the work. I thank the Organe-se project for having welcomed such a figure as Lacaz, for having welcomed me on a day of composting, and for the essential project you are leading in São José. Let's go! The planet is desperately in need of our care and love.
“Composing Choreographic Compost foi selecionado para a edição de 2021 do Digital Research in the Humanities and Arts (uma organização britânica que une ciência e arte), como performance apresentada no programa “Dancing Beyond the Human”. Nesse trabalho coreográfico, que foi apresentado em ambiente digital (parte ao vivo, e uma parte foi esse vídeo que publico aqui hoje), investiguei a coreografia que existe no processo de compostagem do Lucas Lacaz Ruiz: suas trajetórias espaciais, gestuais, as relações entre o corpo humano e os seres sensíveis e insensíveis.
O tema central da conferência foi o Antropoceno, um conceito que vem sendo amplamente debatido nos meios da arte e da academia e que circunscreve os problemas drásticos que vivemos no mundo com a mudança climática, o decorrente aumento da temperatura, e, no nosso caso, o que se faz com o lixo que produzimos. Nesse sentido, a compostagem é a função dessa coreografia, e expõe a trajetória única do Lucas em ter começado sozinho, com o espírito “DO IT YOUR SELF”, a compostagem de restos orgânicos de uma feira livre em São José dos Campos. Lucas é o tipo de pessoa que o planeta precisa a partir de já. No vídeo sua história está parcialmente contada, estou finalizando uma versão mais longa do trabalho. Agradeço ao projeto Organe-se por terem acolhido essa figura que é o Lacaz, por terem me acolhido em um dia de compostagem, e pelo projeto essencial que vocês estão encabeçando em São José.
